Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever

The forces created when you push on the handle of a front door will create rotational effects similar to those.

However, levers don't create energy. They simply increase the force you apply by converting a small amount of effort applied over a long distance into a greater amount of force applied over a smaller distance. This is what allows you to do more work in a shorter amount of time, and that is why levers are often employed to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. This is also the reason behind levers found in many everyday tools like crowbars, fishing rods claws for hammers and even your legs when you sit on the hand brake of your vehicle.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles, feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. These are available in various finishes and variations and can be used on a wide range of materials, including UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for both the doors, both exterior and interior, with spindles and screws included. They are also available in handed and unhanded versions for different users.

These can be used to replace the existing upvc door. They are typically operated by lifting the levers to throw all of the multipoint locks, and turning the key to close and unlock. They provide a bit more security than traditional lever door handles since locking is only done from the inside using keys.

They are not as safe as a cylinder lock, but they're cost-effective ways to increase the security of your home. The only disadvantage is that they don't offer the same level of protection like a cylinder lock and therefore don't block access to your home if the door is left open.

This type of handle can also be used for doors in the interior, like those in bedrooms where you wish to limit access from outside.

Snib buttons can cause problems in certain situations, particularly when you have locks that are old upvc door handles and warped doors. If the snib switch is accidentally pressed or by someone who is not familiar with it, the door may be slammed and you locked out. Usually, you can still be able to get in by knocking the door's frame or letterbox, however this isn't a good idea.

This is achieved by the 'pad'-shaped external door handles handle which locks in the gap between the handles and lock case to prevent the latch from being withdrawn or the door opened.

This type of handle is designed for uPVC doors that are fitted with multipoint locks that operate with split spindle operations. This kind of operation requires that the internal lever handle and the external pad handle be attached to the same lock case. This could be a straightforward replacement of the current uPVC handle, however it could also require a new lock case or a new set of handles to handle furniture.
