It does not allow you to create Keep-Out Zones or clean specific rooms, which is crucial if your home has more than one floor. You could think about the Roborock Q5+, which provides smart mapping that is superior and provides more options for customization through its app.

Shark's app is incredibly slow and unstable when used with the robot. The iRobot HOME app however is a lot more user-friendly and reliable.

3. Roomba from iRobot

With its premium construction and impressive performance on unfinished floors, the Roomba i3 is one of our favorite robot vacuum bags. It is built well, and can navigate around obstacles with ease and can charge quickly. It has a large dustbin that is easy to empty.

This Roomba model doesn't have a top-mounted camera that can recognize objects or look for features that are unique to be aware of, like some of its more premium siblings do. It has optical sensors that focus downwards to detect obstacles. It also builds up an image of the floor plan while it cleans and pays attention to internal sensors, such as wheel odometers and gyroscopes and gyroscopes. iRobot's Genius update, which adds smart mapping without increasing the price of the robot -- lets you direct it to clean specific areas by using the iRobot Home app or your voice assistant.

When this Roomba is soiled--and it can be triggered to do so by the app or its own docking station--it returns to its base and emptys its internal trash bin into the larger external one. The docking station communicates with the robot via beacons, ensuring that they are in close proximity prior to cleaning.

It is also a bit sluggish in its movement and could get tangled with things like electrical cords or rug tassels. It has a decent battery life and is quick to charge.

The iRobot Combo i5 goes to the next level by incorporating mopping capabilities. The robot can be transformed into a multi-surface mop/vacuum robotic by simply swapping the included Roomba Combo cleaner bin. It can be controlled using the iRobot App or voice commands when linked to a smart assistant device.

It's more effective at cleaning low-pile and bare floors than the iRobot Roomba E5 because it includes a HEPA filter that traps allergens. However it's not as intelligent as the Shark AI robot vacuum and mop bagless and has more parts that need to be maintained regularly. It feels more durable and has a long battery life, but costs more to run.

5. iRobot i7 Roomba

The Roomba i7 has one very unique feature that we don't see in other robot bagless cutting-edge vacuums: an automatic dirt disposal system built into its base. When it's docked, the hose inside the Clean Base automatically sucks debris from the bin and into a proprietary bag that iRobot calls its Smart Maps. It's a quick, easy way to empty the bin that robot bagless self-recharging vacuums. You don't have to lift the bin out and let everything move around (which could cause a small dust explosion). This top-rated model has a low operating cost. You'll need to replace the bag every time it gets full. They are cheap but you may feel bad throwing them to waste.

After you have your i7+ and its Clean Base in place, you can either start it cleaning right away or instruct it to do two exploratory non-vacuuming runs to create a floor map of the area. Once you have a map of the space you can use the iRobot app to label rooms and create virtual barriers. You can also set specific cleaning times for specific rooms.

The i7+ is a top-of-the-line robot vacuum. While it's very capable and offers all the features you'd require in an automation system for your home however, it's an expense that is difficult to justify for the majority of. The Roborock S7 is less expensive than the i7+, is more durable, offers lower recurring costs and longer runtime. It also does a better job on flooring that isn't fully cleaned. If you're not 100% convinced that you need a permanent map of your entire home We suggest looking for a different option.
