The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's newest and fanciest counter-depth French door fridge, priced at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also does well in our cooling tests, but we're not fans of its gimmicky polygon handles and the crisper bins are a bit flimsy.

One thing that distinguishes the RF23M8090SG apart is the Bespoke line that lets you personalize your fridge with removable colored panels which can be swapped when you're tired of the ones you have currently. There are 11 different colors, ranging from pastels to more bright colors. There are four metallic finishes. The panels can be customized to include text or photos. This will make the fridge more personal and can match your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon or tie-dye Crocs.

The LED lighting can be changed to a different color, which is a nice feature. The interior of the refrigerator has a smart finish which reduces smudges, and makes cleaning easy. The only negatives to the RF23M8090SG are its somewhat congested beverage center and an incline to learn curve in opening the door-in-door feature which houses a water pitcher and a dispenser. You need to look for a lever on the underside of the door halfway across, and once you have it you will be able to open another door inside the refrigerator that houses the docking station for pitchers, the water dispenser and two shelves for drinks.

The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to store a wide range of frozen foods and features an impressive slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food you're searching for without opening the entire compartment. There's also a butter bin-style compartment inside the freezer that allows for simple storage of small items, as well as a large capacity drawer that stores bulkier frozen items. It also has a few annoying issues. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF can heat up quite a lot in the freezer, and can become uncomfortable hot in the most inner shelves of the refrigerator. That's reflected in our heat maps, which show how the interior temps fluctuate minute by minute. The butter bin in the orange section on the right is especially warm during our test period. This might not appear to be a problem at first however, the fridge is spending most of its time above 32 degrees.

It's worth mentioning that this model isn't Energy Star certified, which could be important to certain buyers. The main issue is that this fridge isn't the best. It's not equipped with the latest features and is made of a slender, flimsy material which makes it difficult to recommend it over more expensive options at this price point.

This Frigidaire fridge is identical to the stainless steel version that you may see in the local appliance store. It's a great option with a brushed finish that looks great and is impervious to smudges. However, it doesn't offer much to distinguish itself from its competitors that are more feature-rich and less expensive.

If you're looking for a counter-depth french-door refrigerator but don't want to spend an excessive amount of money the FGHC2331PF might be worth considering. It offers enough storage for many families, and does a good job of keeping food fresh. Even if it's not an energy-efficient model, it doesn't even come close to costing the same amount as our top-rated models do.
