Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever

If you press on the handle of a door, the forces will produce rotational effects similar to this.

However, levers don't create energy. Levers multiply the force by changing small amounts of effort applied over a lengthy distance into larger amounts of force applied over smaller distances. This allows you to do more work in a shorter amount of time, which is the reason why levers are frequently used for lifting heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. Lever/Pad

They are more secure when compared to standard lever door handles because the locking function can only be gained from the inside with a key unless the door is deadlocked.

Lever latches are by far the most simple kind of door handles. The lever is pulled down to open a latch inside the door that can be locked with a key. Some lever privacy handles operate similar to the doorknob, but with an additional snib, similar to a doorknob.

A snib can be very useful tool, especially in homes where security and privacy are essential. If your spouse is expected to arrive at home late from work, you can use the snib button to ensure that they aren't allowed in until they're ready to come in. This kind of handle is also popular for interior doors like bedrooms, where you may require a lock to prevent access from outside.

Snib buttons can cause problems in some cases, especially when you have locks that are old and warped doors. If the snib button is accidentally pressed, or by someone who isn't familiar with it, the door may slam and lock you out. It is possible to gain entry by knocking on the door frame or letterbox. However, this is not ideal.

This is achieved by a 'pad' shaped external handle which locks in the gap between the handles and lock case to stop the latch from being removed or the door being opened.

This kind of handle is designed for uPVC doors that are fitted with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle technology. This type of operation requires that the internal lever handle for double glazed window and external pad handle be attached to the same lock case. This could be a straightforward replacement for the current uPVC handle, but it could also require a lock case change or a brand new set to handle furniture.

Lever moveable pads are offered in a variety of finishes and can be used with a variety of multipoint locks. They are designed to be used with split spindle multipoint locks that have a 92mm cylinder and require a special split spindle set as supplied by the lock maker.
