How to replace audi key fob an audi a3 key fob G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located near the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper chain of timing. The code won't show without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are different pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you are having problems with this component, look for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or the injectors are not firing any more. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks, Audi tt Key replacement I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. So i assume the problem is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when it is unplugged, shows temperatures of -49c. Also, i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Testing them is easy by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's end). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to know the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make decisions about fuel injector timing etc. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to an engine shut down.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox or a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, or a misfire in the gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is most likely that your sensor is going bad and needs replacing. The good news is that they are very affordable and readily available, especially if you're looking at an Bosch sensor, like ours. Alternatively, the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a number of problems in your car. It's an essential component of the transmission of your audi etron key, as it transmits information to the ECU on how fast or slow the engine of the car is turning. This sensor can cause the transmission to malfunction and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located near the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. You should detect an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these points.
