The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album is a return to a traditional sextet style and an even more consistent and powerful effort that had a more grittier edge. Its more punk-rock sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group and featured drummer Bobby Kimball's improved ability on the drums and a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work was more refined, sharper and less cloying than earlier recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live show that was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. A new studio album was released a few months later, and the group embarked on an extensive world tour to promote the album. In this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.
