UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The changing window handles on your doors are worn out over time and need to be replaced. It is essential to keep the same dimensions as the old handles when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in several finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs come with screws and a spindle which allow them to be installed on a new or existing uPVC door. Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to the pins in the lock and allow them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors usually requiring different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It depends on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance should be equipped with cylinders with greater security while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is important that it's not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been made with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a new direction. This helps prevent attacks and protect your doors.

There are cylinders that have been designed to withstand snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is targeted with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is much quicker and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a burglary, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located inside the base of your door handle backplate, providing a spring solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after use. There was a time when handles didn't have a spring built into them and without this they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the most effective ways to fix this, and is an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in an open or closed position, as these aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes have been specifically made for use with multipoint locks sprung, they will not fit non-sprung multipoint handles. You will need to have a hole specifically cut in your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplate of the door handle for numerous brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.
