WoW Upgrades - The item upgrades Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item upgrading level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the item upgrades's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrades upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from a different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an Item level upgrade upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
