How to replace audi key fob an audi keys replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Lexus.jpgIn this video Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can activate spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test since there are different pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had massive power loss as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors are not firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays closed. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get zero Ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do, i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i am afraid I might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and they both work in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or in a local parts store. It is simple to test them by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's side). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. In order to do this it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shut down.

A failing G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox or a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, or a misfire in the gear. If you experience any of these problems, it is likely that your sensor is failing and requires replacement audi key cost audi tt key programming key cost (images.google.be published a blog post). The good news is they are quite affordable and easy to find, especially if you're looking at the Bosch model, which is what we have. You can also choose the GM version of this part is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a myriad of issues in your car. It is an important part of the transmission of your Audi, as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine is turning. When this sensor fails, it could disrupt the performance of the transmission as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It transmits signals via a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then processes the signal to control fuel, timig and boost as well as transmitting it to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection to pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should detect the resistance to be around 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a standard part that is found across the audi a1 key 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good parts could be found in wrecking yards.
