WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

upgrade items costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Crests

Another important change is that crests have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them properly. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
