Original antique Japanese color foursome woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865). Shunga (Spring picture). Date: Bunsei era, 9th year, 1826. Size (closed):10 3/4" x 8 1/5" inches. Size (open):15" x 8 1/5" inches. Series: Kaidan Yoru no Tono (Picture Book: Tales of Pussy in the Palace at Night aka.Vaginal Tales of the Nocturnal Palace). Author: foursome Utei Enba II (1792-1862). Fine impression, color and very good condition. Only some minor wear and soiling. Magnificent use of metallic printing and embossing. "An incredible masterpiece design in the shape of a trick print with a man involved in a mysterious threesome with an audience of female onlookers. When all flaps are lifted the viewer is confronted with a huge fox spirit orgy. Foxes (Kitsune) could transform themselves into male or (more usually) female human form to trick people into having sex or try to obtain something from them in return for sex. They were shown either as foxes deceiving dressed as humans or as humans with tails.
