Upgrades can increase the power of a piece of gear and sometimes even its extras. The value of these upgrades is determined by the levels of gear, their requirements, and how many random augmentations are applied.

For example, the elite racial shield Razortail is commonly upgraded for its lightning absorb ability in PvP, or to add additional defenses to missile-based designs in PvM. This makes it more exchangeable over the unupgraded version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens are a way to reroll an item you have acquired like an armor, weapon or rings. The item is replaced by another item of the same type however with different benefits. Reroll tokens can be an efficient method of upgrading equipment. They don't preserve the original level of the item level upgrade and any wasted resources will not be refunded.
