Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique keycase to commemorate the brand's centennial. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it comes with a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys as well as a brochure with never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It shows in the precision positioning of its quilting, the choice of leather sourced from by-products of cattle production, the wood from sustainably managed forests and the creative patterns on its levers. As you approach a car like the Continental GT W12, its beautiful sculptural design is highlighted by carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever built. The rear tonneau of Continental GT, for instance, featured the biggest piece of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this bespoke design, quality and attention to detail that has established Bentley as the most sought-after automotive brand. The company continues pushing boundaries using the most advanced technologies and craftsmanship. A century after its inception, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of conflict with BMW was able to celebrate its centennial in the year 2019. Design

Bentley is known as a luxury car maker that creates extravagant and luxurious cars. However, even the keys are an oath. The Bentayga key is crafted from sterling silver. Bentley Mulliner reinvented and designed the Mulsanne to be the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. The custom heating and ventilation as well as air conditioning system was created to give each passenger the ideal temperature control.

In addition to a set of exquisitely executed styling tweaks, the Mulsanne is powered by twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine that is capable of producing 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse is enhanced by a new suspension system that provides Bentley's hushed, quiet ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a bespoke specification known as the Centenary Specification for cars that were built in 2019. The cabin is decorated with cross-stitching as well as contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embossed in Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. A bespoke Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to create their own car. Bentley estimates that it takes 500 man-hours on average to construct and construct a Mulsanne. The unwillingness to embrace modern technology is the key to this time-consuming task. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly matched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built-in sensors guide it into perpendicular and parallel parking spots the drivers must do it manually.
