The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as required. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic hoovers vacuums we have examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek automatic vacuum and mop cleaner that can sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuums best vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum best in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
