The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed by an attachment strap and clip. Anna discovered that the CoZee was a safe and comfy sleep space for her newborn. She loved that it didn't rock like some other models, meaning it didn't wake her up in the night when she was trying to soothe her baby for feeds. She also appreciated that the sides of the chair lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner in order to carry the child out to feed her at night.

The CoZee is available in oak and charcoal and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more an elegant piece of furniture than some of the other cribs we've tried, which look quite utilitarian in comparison. It's also relatively lightweight at just 11kg, and comes with a carry bag which allows you to take it on vacation or if you're moving home. You only need to purchase a waterproof sheet and a safety strap for sleeping together. The instructions and images are easy to follow once you open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is an infant bassinet designed to make parents feel more connected to their baby as they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and moves through three slide positions to be placed next to the parent's bed, or in the corner of the room so that the baby is always close at hand. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to flow through, and gives you a quick glance at your child. You can also store additional pajamas or other items in the large basket underneath.

As opposed to other bedside cribs The Iora can be folded flat and comes with a travel bag so that it can be taken anywhere. It was easy to move from room to room, and our mum testers felt it was the perfect size for a bedside crib that turns into cot crib. They also loved the large storage basket perfect for storing spare bedding or nappies.

This is an excellent choice for parents who want to co-sleep, but do not want to share their beds, or whose partners might be prone to mobility issues, such as arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers loved that they could easily access their child in the Iora and that it included an optional reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.

Our mums are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. They recommend placing an infant in a Moses basket or crib on its own, without toys, blankets and pillows. They also claim that the mattress is comfortable and firm for the baby and easy to find sheets for. It isn't as light as other cribs for bedside use however, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around with, think about one of the other options in our list.
