World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade item you decide to perform. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the level of an item. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it's capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a seller.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, because the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications which are then increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item upgrade. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item upgrader mod by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges as with other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item upgrading will include at least one stat in that range unless they are an exclusive item or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. Similar to the base equipment, this will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of those properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is more useful in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Furthermore some items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. Every item has an average success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
