World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item upgrader mod. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of causing. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a vendor.

The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full item description, including its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that influences the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item upgrade can increase the stats of an item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item.

At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Additionally there are certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (website) CORE client config.
