World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item level upgrade's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with less upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level with normal methods.

Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrade a piece of equipment the original item will be replaced by an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback since the item may be more expensive even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens in order to do so. This causes the item upgrade to be traded for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be useful but it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their gear.
